A Few Days Of Surprises

First, I apologize for any inconveniences you may encounter. I switched over to BETA today. Didn't want to, but when I tried getting one here for the last couple of days all I encountered was a blank page that was nearly as black as my soul. Couldn't see nuthin'. So I figured the Googel terrorists had bombed my site and were forcing me to capitualte to their demands. Since I possess all the backbone of your average jelly fish, I followed the French model and capitualted while retaining an inner air of arrogance.

Second, my 8 year old discovered that in one of the songs on his new Green Day CD, they say, or rather, sing, "Fuck". Horrors. I listened to the song and confirmed that they are not saying "truck", "luck" or "shuck". So of course I took the CD away right? Nope. I'd rather he hear that word than grow up listening to Justin Timberlake. Besides, it's not like he hasn't heard that word roughly 82 times over the last week what with the roofing excitement anyway.

Third, and this is the best one, I started watching yet another season of "24" last night. Yep, another four months watching incredibly unrealistic exploits and semi-fascist doings all in the name of national security. Sue me. I like the show. But here's the best part. This year's villian seems to be a fellow named Fyed, or Syed, or maybe Fred. I don't know. Adoni Maropis is the actor:

But as I'm watching the show, I keep thinking "I KNOW I've seen that guy somewhere before. I know it." Couldn't place him. Late last night, as, of all things, I'm cleaning the stove, it hits me.

Porn.

I've seen him on one of those late night night soft-core pornos that one of the HBO/Cinemax stations shows. He gives a new-bride-to-be a thrilling send-off in a hot tub. One of those cases of mixed up hotel rooms that we all know so well from real life. She's kind of cute though.

I'm not sure how seriously I'll be able to take "24" this season. Still it's good to know at least one of the actors 'ahem' came up the hard way.

My kids have that Green Day CD too - the F-word didn't phase 'em.

I can't watch 24 - Keifer seems like such a clamfuck.

Uh...gosh. Golly gee. I just don't know what to say.
Besides...what's a 'clamfuck' anyway?

At least it's upfront that he had to kiss a lot of ass to get somewhere in the biz. And pornstar hot female ass is not so shabby, considering the alternatives.

ha ha! If I had kids and they even HAD a Justin Timberlake CD they'd be grounded for a month.

I haven't caught 24 yet, but now I think they should play that cheezy "porn background music" during the really dramatic parts.

JDR, I think they just meant I had 25 "good" posts. Total. Out of like 200+.

MCM, I'm with Tai on this one. What is a "clamfuck"? Although I have to say, usually I start thinking 24 is getting too ridiculous at about hour 21. This year it's at hour 4. Not sure I'll be finishing this season. Although as Lady K suggested, whenever Abu Fyed comes on, I start going "Bow-chicka-bow-wow"

Pug, I don't recall a lot of kissing in his scene, or dialogue for that matter. Ass on the other hand, abounded.

Does he have the funky 'porn' music playing in the background when he's on the screen? I could go for that...

Only in my imagination Maggie.

Sorry for the confusion - I don't know what the hell a "clamfuck" is...I meant to call him a "clamfucker".

My husband says fuck about 30/day and yet my 8 year old has never once said it-weird. Perhaps someone told him it was a bad word. I never did, I really don't get hung up on swearing.

I like your total recall of soft core porn on skinemax-good retention. I don't watch 24, but I probably should since there is nothing else on. I just really don't like Kiefer that much.

Beta traitor!!!!

I don't sweat the swear words in the songs I listen to, but I've avoided playing overtly violent or sexy songs around my 3 1/2 year old. I'm so glad she loves the Beatles, but I'm not ready for her to belt out "Why Don't We Do it In the Road" just yet, you know?

I'm sure Adoni Maropis always thought of himself as a serious actor biding his time until his big break. I think of the Burt Reynolds character in "Boogie Nights" who is convinced that the films he makes are actually good.

Pissy, I don't think ou'll miss much this season.

Monk, thanks for the clarification. But having to spend a great dela of time opening clams while working in a restaurant years back, I'd have to say that calling someone a "clamfucker" really just compliments their determination.

Nonny, I'm just glad I only recognized his face!

Nice Alkelda! Adoni Moropis is the "Chest Rockwell" of 24!

Steve, maybe you and eclectic can get together and start watching it. While there is no porn in it yet, (sorry there e), they do seem to be on the verge of a snuff film pretty much every 42 minutes.

Yasamin. No. There's no blog here. Never has been. Move along. Porn aisle is to your right. And left. And, OK, straight ahead too.

Lady K, ??? Did I miss something? Short answer is no. Not sure why you think that. Apologies if I left that impression.

Okay, this has nothing to do with anything in regards to this lastest post.

But.

I just saw that you have a link to the Supersuckers.

Oh. My. Jesus. Fuck.

I didn't think they were still around as none of the other bands I rocked out to when I was a young and impresionable grunge girl are. All of those bands have either overdosed on the cliche' known as heroin or faded into grownuphood.

Anyway, thanks for the link and for taking me back a decade (or so).

You're awesome.

So? How'd it go? You Mormonized yet?

Hold on.

There's a couple of 16 year old boys in white shirts and black pants at my door...

Nick, I'd rather fight than switch. We're talking about razor blades right?
